East Linton and Brent Cross West open

James Billington, December 20, 2023December 20, 2023

Around last week, Britain saw the opening of it’s 2580th Train station in Brent Cross West. The new station is walking distance from Brent Cross London underground station and a second station to serve the Brent Cross shopping centre. It is in located in northwest London and the regeneration of the Brent cross area, including the station, will cost around £420m. The station is on the Midland mainline and will recieve Thameslink services to and fro London, Bedford and Luton.

More recently though, East Linton opened and became the 2581st station in the UK. This was a much cheaper built though at a cost of £15m. The new station will bring rail services back to the village of East Linton after nearly 60 years with any form of rail services when the station was closed in 1964 during Dr. Beeching’s infamous sweep of the British rail network. The new station is located on the Scottish part of the East Coast Main Line, inbetween Drem and Dunbar and will see commuter ScotRail services to Dunbar and Edinburgh and a limited amount of TransPennine stopping services to the north of England. The next scheduled new station to open in the UK is White Rose in Yorkshire.
